The Opportunity

NDRI-USA is seeking a highly organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the Principal Investigator and research team on NIH/NIDA-funded project encouraging participants to protect themselves and others from overdose.

This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in research coordination, participant engagement, data collection, project administration, and study operations while working alongside an established interdisciplinary research team.

The APM will play an important role in keeping day-to-day study activities organized and on track. The position is particularly well suited for someone with experience in public health research, behavioral science, research administration, or project management.

What You’ll Do

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participant Coordination

• Schedule potential study participants for initial screenings and coordinate related study activities

• Communicate with participants and study team members to support an organized and positive research experience

• Financial & Administrative Support

• Reconcile participant payment receipts on a daily basis

• Prepare and maintain weekly logs documenting participant incentive payments

• Maintain accurate and organized study records and documentation

• Assist with administrative activities necessary to keep project operations running efficiently

• Secondary Responsibilities

• Research Support

• Work with the project team to collect qualitative and quantitative data as directed by the Principal Investigator

• Support the research team with study-related documentation, tracking, and reporting

• Collaboration & Project Support

• Collaborate with internal staff, researchers, community partners, and other project stakeholders

• Support the team in meeting project timelines, milestones, and study requirements

• Perform other administrative and research-related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator

What You Bring

• Master’s degree in public health, behavioral science, social and behavioral sciences, or a related field

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research team

• Ability and willingness to work on site at various locations throughout New York City, as directed by study leadership

• What Sets You Apart (non-requirements)

• You have experience conducting or supporting qualitative and/or quantitative research

• You have experience working with people who use drugs

• You are proficient in speaking the Spanish language

• You have experience with research coordination, participant recruitment, data collection, or project administration

• You have lived or living experience with substance use and/or the criminal justice system

• You have experience working in a public health, behavioral science, community health, or research environment

Compensation & Schedule

This is a part-time position scheduled for three days per week (60% FTE).

Ph.D.: $39,000 annually – based on 60% of a $65,000 full-time salary

Master’s degree: $33,000 annually – based on 60% of a $55,000 full-time salary
