Location: Leawood, Kansas
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Schedule: Hybrid Full-Time or Part-Time (based on organizational needs)
Salary (Full-Time): $75,000 - $90,000

The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a dynamic Human Resources Manager who is both strategic and hands-on. In this role, you’ll be a key partner to leadership, helping to build a thriving workplace culture while ensuring our people practices align with our mission and growth.
You’ll lead all aspects of HR – from talent acquisition to employee engagement – while serving as a trusted advisor to staff and leadership alike.
What You’ll Do:
Strategic Leadership & Culture
Partner with leadership to develop and execute HR strategies aligned with organizational goals
Champion a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture
Serve as a trusted advisor on employee relations, organizational development, and change management
Talent & Employee Experience
Lead full-cycle recruitment to attract mission-aligned talent
Design and enhance onboarding experiences that set employees up for success
Develop engagement and retention initiatives that support employee satisfaction

Performance & Development
Implement and manage performance management systems
Create training and professional development programs
Identify growth opportunities that align employee goals with organizational needs
Compliance & HR Operations
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
Maintain and update HR policies and procedures
Stay current on HR trends, regulations, and best practices
Compensation, Benefits & Administration
Oversee compensation and benefits programs to remain competitive
Collaborate with brokers to evaluate and manage benefits and insurance plans
Support payroll processing through accurate documentation
Manage insurance renewals and related administrative processes
What You Bring:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field … (or Associate’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience)
2+ years of HR experience (more is welcome – we value depth of experience)
Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment preferred
HR certification (or willingness to obtain within the first year)

Experience with HR systems (BambooHR is a plus)
