The Opportunity

NDRI-USA is seeking a motivated and collaborative Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join an interdisciplinary research team working on an NIH/NIDA-funded project encouraging participants to protect themselves and others from overdose.

 This position offers an opportunity to work with an established interdisciplinary research team and community leaders while developing expertise in applied public health research.

 The Fellow will receive training and mentorship in qualitative and quantitative research methods and will have opportunities to contribute to conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

What You’ll Do

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and synthesize relevant scientific research

• Draft manuscripts, conference abstracts, and presentations

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Collect, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative research data as needed

• Assist with preliminary and ongoing data analysis and interpretation

• Participate in interdisciplinary research activities and contribute to a collaborative research environment

• Perform other research-related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator

What You Bring

• Doctoral degree in public health, behavioral science, social and behavioral sciences, or a related field; advanced doctoral students nearing degree completion will also be considered

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to contribute to research publications

• Strong research, analytical, organizational, and critical-thinking skills

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research team

• Ability and willingness to work on site at various locations throughout New York City, as directed by study leadership

What Sets You Apart

• You have experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research

• You have experience working with people who use drugs

• You are proficient in speaking the Spanish language

• You have lived or have living experience with substance use and/or the criminal justice system

• You have experience with writing, conference presentations, and/or peer-reviewed scientific publications

Compensation & Schedule

This is a part-time position scheduled for two days per week.

• Ph.D.: $28,000 annually – based on 40% of a $70,000 full-time salary

• Master’s degree: $22,000 annually – based on 40% of a $55,000 full-time salary
